    • Does my plan cover “out-of-network” (OON) mental health providers?

    • What is the mental health “deductible” (the amount you have to pay out of pocket before your insurance starts reimbursing you)?

  • Yes, that is totally normal! However, we do our best to make the process comfortable. We believe therapy should feel like an interactive and ongoing comfortable conversation, and many clients in our office often describe their interactions with us as relatable and “real.” If you are nervous, please let us know so we can answer any questions you might have.

  • Did you know the quality of your relationship with your therapist can predict your improvement? In fact, overwhelming evidence shows that the relationship is as important as using the right treatment method. We recommend reading our therapists’ bios prior to your intake call. Together, we can decide what clinician may be the best fit. But if you don’t feel the connection, we’ll be glad to help you find a better match.

  • We know that it’s hard to find time for therapy, so each of our clinicians offers varying hours to accommodate your very full schedule. While a handful of our clinicians are on-site from 9 to 5, many also offer evening and weekend sessions. Remember, your therapist is a human – some are early birds, and others are night owls. So, the “strange” time that works for you may be perfect for your therapist, too!

Our office also offers telehealth through a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform. This can be useful for folks who prefer the comfort of their own home.

  • People come to therapy with a variety of experiences, but some may not know that the relationship with a therapist is bound by HIPPA – which means that the information you share here is confidential and cannot be shared without your written permission. We also use encrypted email, software, and record-keeping.

  • A psychotherapist can be a psychiatrist, psychologist, counselor, or social worker and requires extensive training in human behavior and intervention. All of our therapists have master’s or doctoral degrees and a certain number of hours of clinical experience.

Psychiatrists are doctors who can prescribe medication. Our practice does not offer psychiatric services, but if you need medication, we can recommend doctors that we trust and work with regularly.

  • Self-diagnosis, whether by TikTok video, internet questionnaire, or medical journal, can be tricky. If you feel a TikTok video or social media post reflects how you’re feeling, we’d like to hear about it- anything that lets us understand you is helpful! Diagnosis takes time and can be a complicated process. For us, the big focus is on how we can help you resolve the problems you are having, no matter what your diagnosis is.
